Review by Admin:During my second movie in Manila I found the air-conditioning much more comfortable.
I think perhaps too much has been made of the fact that this was a 'drawn' and not CGI'd animated movie. If it's a good movie then it really doesn't matter to me -and this is a very good movie.
It tells the story of a young black girl from New Orleans, named Tiana, who shares a dream with her Father, to one day open their own restaurant. An evil witchdoctor gets in the way and some people turn into frogs. We then follow a musical ride through a charming story until we reach a very satisifying conclusion.
This is Disney doing what Disney does best. Ironically, it took the man who brought us Toy Story to achieve this. The songs, most of them written by Randy Newman, are excellent as are the characters. Although not as good, it really reminded me of 'The Jungle Book'. I even managed to shed a tear or two.
One for all the family. Go see it on the big screen if you get a chance. |
