What a big disappointment. And, what a complete rip off of Harry Potter. But I suppose as Chris Columbus directed the first two HP's we should not be too surprised.

The story is that a boy, living with an abusive male father figure, one day finds out that he is 'special' and then goes to a place where special people are trained. He then hooks up with another boy and a girl and all three of them break the rukes and go off to fight bad things...sound familiar?

What follows is a succession of special effects laden set pieces with an entertaining cameo by Steve Coogan as Hades.

The SFX were as good as one would expect nowadays but the characters were dull and uninteresting. Maybe sub-13 year olds will find it more entertaining.
